Yes. You can negotiate your own loan modification. However, you should realize that often times it is difficult to get a hold of the lenders. See the video below of California Congresswoman Maxine Waters trying to get ahold of the banks on behald of her constituents. She thought it would be an easy process to do herself but found that she ended up on the phone for hours.
